About North Bay

Nestled between two beautiful lakes, North Bay is the hub of Ontario’s Near North. North Bay residents are the friendliest on earth, and our biggest attraction. Ask anyone who has visited here and you will learn that this is a fact.

There are large shopping malls and an attractive downtown core with a cobblestone street, and an extensive variety of dining facilities to suit every taste. The North Bay Waterfront is a great place to walk, inline skate, bike or jog. Close to the downtown core, it features marina facilities, a boat launch, a boardwalk and plenty of walkways, beaches, playgrounds, picnic areas, restaurants and a bandshell, all on the picturesque shores of Lake Nipissing. The Heritage Railway Company Miniature Train and Heritage Carousel, major features of the waterfront, run all summer long. There are a large number of parks and playgrounds throughout the city, many featuring great sandy beaches.

Ski in the City. Laurentian Ski Hill in North Bay is the area’s only four season Outdoor Education Centre with multi-use recreation facilities. Rising high above the city, the Laurentian Ski Hill Lookout Tower is one of the most dramatic sites in the area, with panoramic views of both Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake. North Bay’s Capitol Centre houses a 1,000 seat theatre with fly tower and orchestra pit, and is suited to theatre, film, music, dance and public forums. Theatre programming features local, national and international talent, ranging from blue grass and ballet to opera and rock.

North Bay is also home to many private and public schools, and is the home of Nipissing University and Canadore College, both highly awarded, and regarded across the country for their academic standards and reputation. The cost of living in “The Bay”, as the locals call it, is low and the quality of life, high. To learn more about North Bay visit: city.north-bay.on.ca
