Operated by Barrick, Cortez is one of the oldest continuously operating gold mines in Nevada. The property is located in Crescent Valley, northeastern Nevada approximately 60 miles southwest of Elko.

In July 2008 Cementation was awarded the project which included incline and decline development, level access development, as well as training of Barrick personnel. A combination of owner supplied and contractor supplied equipment was utilized on this project.

One of the key elements to the success of this project was that Cementation and Barrick personnel integrated as a single team and effectively carried out the work with a Zero Harm record.
