Cementation carried out pre-production underground development work for New Gold Inc. at its New Afton Project near Kamloops, British Columbia.
Contracted to develop the mine from a portal on surface and an access at the bottom of the open pit, the original scope of work consisted of developing approximately 9,144m of underground access and ventilation drifts to reach ore deposits located beneath the existing open pit mine and a series of conveyor drifts to move ore from the bottom of the mine to the surface mill.
Cementation commenced work on site in 2007 with the enlargement of an exploration ramp previously developed by the client. Once the existing ramp was expanded, work began on the access ramp to the bottom of the ore body, the ventilation level and the conveyor ramps.
