JOB TITLE: Senior Mechanical Engineer
LOCATION:North Bay , ON
DEPARTMENT:Engineering
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide mechanical engineering and field support services for in-house and external purposes for company operations and outside clients.
- Provide mechanical design and engineering services on projects involving mechanical construction and installation;
- Specification and procurement package writing;
- Engineering project management, supplier co-ordination and client communication;
- Checking engineering drawings;
- Assist the contracting group with business development and support, as well as tendering work and estimation;
- Sign and seal mechanical engineering drawings for construction purposes;
- Conduct and signoff on the PDR requirements per MOL guidelines;
- Provide backup and support to the Manager of Professional Services during times of absence or when circumstances dictate: and
- Some supervision of design and drafting personnel on electrical design projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: B.Sc Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 10-15 years related experience in mechanical design and heavy construction. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation would be considered and asset.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
- Ability to handle change;
- Self-starter;
- Work with minimal supervision;
- Self-critical of own work;
- Knowledge of mining, mine plant construction and shaft sinking methodologies;
- Must have operational and design/problem solving experience with underground mine hoists and related hoisting systems including general knowledge of hoist drives and controls system.
- Familiar with underground conveyors, mine dewatering, mine ventilation and heating, air compressors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
