JOB TITLE: Senior Mining Engineer

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

This position will challenge technical knowledge through innovative solutions to a diverse range of feasibility and engineering issues. The successful applicant will be required to take their single and multidiscipline background knowledge and apply this to projects to solve specific technical problems. This role will assist and lead project engineering teams in best in class project engineering techniques. Travel and commensurate effort is required to maintain relationships and to liaise with clients, sub-consultants and other pertinent groups. Provide technical solutions to Cementation’s engineering business thereby meeting the client’s needs.

Other duties include:

•Lead teams of junior to intermediate engineers and other technical staff to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of engineering projects to meet or exceed client expectations.
•Feasibility engineering for mining projects including scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
•Report writing for scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
•Mine development and underground excavation cost estimation and scheduling.
•Specification and procurement package writing and analysis.
•Engineering project management, including earned value reporting, scheduling, quality and cost control for project assigned.
•Assist the Contracting and Business Development groups with tendering work and estimation
•Travel as required for project assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering or Equivalent

Experience: 10 -15 years of mining engineering design and production related experience, especially in underground construction. Registered professional engineering licensed to practice in the province of Ontario

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Must be a self starter with the ability to handle change and work with minimal supervision. Must have Knowledge of mining, mine plant construction and shaft sinking methodologies. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills is a must. General knowledge of applicable mining regulations, safety codes and acts is considered an asset.
